About Caldicott’s Funeral Directors

A trusted local funeral service in Tenbury Wells.

A Legacy of Supporting Families

A.H. Caldicott & Sons has a long-standing history in Tenbury Wells, with the family business beginning around 1905 when Albert Henry Caldicott established a combined building and undertaking business at Ninevah House in Kyre. A skilled builder, wheelwright and coffin maker, Albert developed a business that would become a lasting part of the local community. Following the First World War, the firm was officially registered, and Albert and his wife Esther went on to raise seven children, with their five sons becoming involved in the family business and helping to continue its building and funeral services.

Around 1958, the family moved the business from Kyre into Tenbury Wells, establishing premises at The Bell Yard and later 15 Market Street, where the business continued to serve families across the surrounding communities.

From the mid-1970s, the next generation became involved, with Graham Caldicott eventually working alongside his father Alan on the undertaking side of the business for many years. Alan retired from the business around 2015, although he continued to take an interest in its operations for many years afterwards.

In 2025, A.H. Caldicott & Sons became part of the established F.P. Gaunts & Sons family business. Today, Graham Caldicott remains part of the Tenbury Wells team, continuing the Caldicott family tradition of providing families with dignity, care, respect and compassion, while looking after the communities of Tenbury Wells, Leominster, Ludlow, Bromyard and the surrounding areas.
